Granola Bars – Nut Free

So, I received this recipe a couple of years ago from my husband’s cousin and have been asked for it many times since.  These granola bars are my go-to recipe for my kids’ snacks.  They are really versatile and are hearty enough to hold the kids over for a while.  I tend to make a tray each week to pack in lunches.  The best thing is that you can make them nut free or not.  Mine tend to always be nut-free during the school year.

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup honey

2 tsp vanilla

1 egg

2 cups oats

3/4 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup wheat germ

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup of whatever you have or want (raisins, soy nuts, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips or any combination of anything)

Bake in a 9×13 pan at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

  1. Jess shared this recipe with me last year … my kids & husband enjoy them for snack too! 🙂 My family likes pumpkin seeds or dark chocolate chips added and I sneak in flax seeds too. Yummy – Thanks Jess!
